Skinny Coffee Club Review

A little background

After hearing about Skinny Coffee Club through Instagram, I thought it would be a fun thing to try and experiment with. I love juice cleanses. I’ve always been intrigued by a teatox and I love coffee, so this is the perfect match!

As with most things, I conducted a lot of research before making my purchase. Unfortunately, Skinny Coffee Club offers some sort of store credit for referrals, so I found a lot of artificially glowing reviews that didn’t really mention anything about results, simply for the purpose of pushing their referral code. Because of that, I decided that once I embark on my detox, I would write my own, honest review.

I like to consider myself pretty knowledgeable about health, weight loss and nutrition, so I’m not the type to have wildly unrealistic expectations that this coffee detox will work miracles. My main reason for trying it is that I thought it might be a good way to delay morning hunger so I ultimately eat just a few less calories in a day.

After making my purchase, it took about 11 days for the coffee to arrive to Washington state from the UK. Surprisingly, the bag is very tiny! But you only use a teaspoon a day, so I guess that makes sense.

I don’t have much weight to lose, but I would definitely like to lose about 3-5 more pounds in the next 6 weeks because we are going to Maui! Along with the Skinny Coffee Club detox, I’m trying to focus on drinking lots of water and making very healthy choices (plenty of vegetables, low carb, regular exercise).

Day 1: My first thoughts were that this coffee isn’t all that bad and I can easily drink it without cream and sugar. I didn’t experience any scary number twos, but it definitely helped move things along. The coffee helped me delay my breakfast protein shake an hour or two later in the morning.

Day 2: After my first few sips, I’m realizing, this tastes like a crappy cup of coffee. Oh well. I still finish my cup. It’s later in the morning and I’m hungry so I simultaneously drink my protein shake.

Day ?: It’s been a few weeks and I’ve been drinking this stuff nearly every day, however I’ve probably missed 2-3 days total. I’m enjoying starting my mornings with a warm cup of coffee. Not sure if it has been suppressing my appetite or doing much at all. But it is comforting.

Pros:

  • It’s nice to start the day with a warm cup of coffee.
  • I like not having to rely on adding cream and sugar.
  • It’s good to be regular!
  • It’s easy. You drink your morning cup and then forget about it the rest of the day.

Cons:

  • Price.
  • The taste isn’t that great for how much it cost.

Final thoughts

I’m publishing this post exactly 1 month after I started writing it. I actually have lost a little weight over the past month, but I’m mostly attributing it to depression since we had to say goodbye to our beloved dog. 🙁 When I’m heartbroken, my appetite goes away (which is better than crazy bingeing I guess).

Because of the price and the taste, I would definitely not purchase Skinny Coffee Club again. I do like the concept, and if I wanted to do something similar moving forward, I would simply use coffee that I could pick up at my local grocery store or coffee shop.
